Let’s take a look at the shoe trends 2021.

See if there’s a style below that you think would be good to update your outfits.
metallic boots

There were a lot of different boot styles on the catwalks for fall, so let’s start with those. If you really want to make a statement, you could try a pair of silver boots. Take a look (above, left) and see how you could wear a pair of metallic boots with your print midi dress.

Victoria Beckham – Jil Sander – Balenciaga
bright boots

Alberta Ferretti – Prada – Stella McCartney
If you don’t fancy silver but you still want you boots to be the star of your outfit, you could opt for a bright color such as green or purple.
You can see that these two shades are among the Fall 2021 color trends.
classic knee high

Fendi – Hermès – Michael Kors
If you love a classic style that you know won’t date so you can wear them for many years to come, you really can’t go wrong with a pair of knee-high boots.
patterns and prints

Of course, you don’t have to choose a plain color. You could opt for a print or pattern on your boots. Keep the rest of your outfit simple and let your boots stand out or you could mix your prints.
lace ups

Akris – Moschino – Christian Dior
Lace-up boots have been on trend for a couple of seasons now, and definitely aren’t going anywhere for winter and fall. You could opt for over-the-knee, knee-high or shorter booties. If you don’t want to do up all of those laces then look out for a pair which have a zip so you can leave the laces as they are.
embellished boots

Carolina Herrera – Burberry – Simone Rocha
You could also try an embellished pair of boots. Both Carolina Herrara and Burberry opted for heart details while Simon Rocha chose pearls.
slouchy boots

The Row – Gabriela Hearst – Louis Vuitton
There were plenty of nods to other decades on the fall runways for 2021. Slouchy boots from the likes of Gabriela Hearst and Louis Vuitton had an 1980s feel to them brought up-to-date for 2021. Wear over your skinny jeans or under your dress.
oxfords

Phillip Lim – Moschino – Proenza Schouler
If you want to add an edgy, androgynous style to your outfits, you could look out for a pair of menswear-inspired oxfords.
rugged soles

Balmain – Boss – Brunello Cucinellia
Trendy and practicality don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand, but the lug soles on many of the shoes seen on the fall catwalks will keep you stylish as well as making sure you don’t slip in any wet or icy weather.
platforms

Moschino – Chloé – Vivienne Westwood
You could wear the platform trend either on your boots or your going out sandals. This is the ideal way to add some extra height without feeling as if the heels on your shoes are too high to walk in.
80s pumps

Balmain – Tod’s – Moschino
This is the second nod to the 1980s on this shoe round up. While pumps are always a classic style choice, the colors and the pointed shapes on the pumps for 2021 definitely felt as if they were inspired by the 1980s.
sculptural heels

Lanvin – Ports 1961 – Eytys
If you love an architectural style, you may want to look out for shoes or boots with an interesting sculptural heel.
kitten heels

Never out of style, a pair of kitten heels are a classic option that won’t date. Also, take a look at the most comfortable heels that look hip and are comfortable to wear.
tassels

A.W.A.K.E. MODE – Gucci – Ulla Johnson
Tassels featured among the clothing trends for fall 2021 and the coat trends for this year, and were also part of the shoe trends for the upcoming season. Look out for tassels on your boots, flats or heels.
lofty loafers

While loafers are traditionally a flat style, the trend for loafers for fall and winter featured high heels. Of course, you don’t have to opt for a skyscraper heel like that seen at Max Mara (above, right). You could opt for a mid heel instead to make sure you can wear this style day-to-day.
toe cap

Saint Laurent – Valentino – Chanel
Toe cap style are often seen at Chanel but other designers also opted for this style. You can see, again, that there was inspiration from the 1980s.
fluffy slippers

Chloé – Coach – Proenza Schouler
After many months of staying at home, I’m sure you’re used to comfort, and designers haven’t forgotten that. As well as all of the stylish heels above, you could choose a pair of comfy, fluffy, warm sandals.
